The
Law
Trademarks: The legislation in Nigeria presently
regulating the practice and procedure of trademarks are the Trademarks
Act of 1965 and the Trademarks Regulations of 1976 (as amended by
the Laws of the Federation 1990).
Patents: The practice and procedure relating to
Patent and Design application is comprehensive set out in the Patent
and Designs Act of 1990.
Copyright: The Nigerian Copyright Act of 1990 as
amended by the Copyright (amended) Decree 1992 governs Copyright
protection for artists, authors, performers or other creators of
works that fall within the ambit of Copyright.
Merchandise Marks Act: Legislation relating to
the fraudulent use marks in merchandise are contained in the Merchandise
Marks Act, law of the Federation 1990.
