AVIATION LAW

With the growth of technology and corresponding development of the aviation in Nigeria, Obasa and Co. has expanded its Aviation and carriage department to cater for its growing clientele.

The Aviation department at Obasa & Co. is a full service department, which encompasses al aspects of the aviation industry, ranging from the registration of aircrafts for commercial purposes to the de-registration of such aircrafts, transfer of ownership in the air craft by way of lease, mortgage and lien, assisting in obtaining the requisite insurance cover prior to the commencement of operations as well as baggage and accident compensation claims.

The Law

The applicable law governing aviation and allied matters in Nigeria is the Civil Aviation (Air Navigation) Regulations CAP 51 of 1965 and the provisions of these regulations stipulate the procedure and requirements for the registration of aircraft and all other allied matters to aviation.

The body empowered with the regulation of all matters relating to aviation in Nigeria is the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
